Back in Business

Am I really a B*tch or is it that I am good at some things requiring "Firm But Polite" behaviour?? To wit: I am back in the evicting business.

The family cottage is very small and funky with a view to die for and, if you are a well-behaved tenant, beach and wharf privileges. We spent many, many summers "At the Bay". I learned to sail there and that hauling rocks was easier with a winch and high tide - did you know rocks weighed less under water? It holds a lot of good memories and, were one to need a place to retreat for restoration of spirit, it could be just the ticket.

My dad has (finally) decided that the bonehead-4-months-arrears-"I'll-have-the cash-tomorrow" tenant needs to go. Who ya gonna call?

Eviction Woman!!

So far: one Firm But Polite letter, one Full-of-Excuses (and Lies that he thinks I don't recognize) phone call. That was two weeks ago. Lots of heads up and pay attention one would think, right?? Not so much for this guy. I think he made the same mistake the last character did and thought I would be A Girl and, Therefore, Someone Who Could be Strung Along With Words and Promises.

Apparently, he was wrong.

This morning: one Inspection Visit complete with signing of Tenancy Agreement document that should have been done 5 years ago (thanks, Dad who was being Nice) followed by the handing over of the coup de grace: a 10 Day Notice. For those of you who have followed my career as a landlord, you may know what I'm talking about, for the rest of you it's pretty simple: he has 5 days to pay up in full or file a dispute. If he does neither, he has 10 days to leave. He was not very happy.

It could get messy. Or it might not and he will leave when he is supposed to. Either way, there may be cottage and wharf space available this summer.

Completed Applications for Preferred Weeks on the pile to the right.

Children of the Family: you are on notice for clean-up patrol!!

Dear Weather:

It seems you missed the memo: the one that pointed out that Spring has Officially Started and that grooming of cross-country ski trails has ceased. You also seem to have missed that I took my skis out of the car and said, "I think I have finished skiing for the season."

These are the only explanations (other than an intense cold front from Alaska - Sarah Palin's revenge??) I have for the 4" of snow on my deck and driveway.

Four inches of snow on the 2nd of April!!

All right: maybe 3" but it's still coming down.

May I remind you, Weather, that this is neither Calgary nor Ft St John? I am supposed to be planting out the pansies I bought yesterday. I am supposed to be raking the dead stuff including several not-my-dog poops from the grass and filling the Garden Refuse Bin for Monday. I am not supposed to be thinking "maybe one more trip up the mountain."

Or am I?

It's still snowing.

The Sr Boy would be up there.

It is to laugh.

Still
breathing.

Love,

Moi

Still Crazy...

It is All Fools' Day.

You regular readers (all two of you) will not have to go far to hunt the gowk as evidenced by the following:

It snowed on me while at the plant nursery today. Flurries are predicted for tomorrow.

Once again, proving that I am still crazy after all these years, I bought the annual supply of pansies for various buckets and boxes and am about to plant them.

I guess I'm done with skiing for sure for this year.

Still breathing.

And cold and dirty fingered.
